2026 Maybach S-Class breaks cover with stronger V8: Luxury features explained

German Automaker Mercedes-Benz recently revealed the next-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class. And now, the company has revealed the Maybach S-Class. The updated Maybach S-Class retains its position as the more spacious and luxury-focused version of the standard S-Class. It adopts the same design and technology updates as the regular model, along with expanded personalisation options. It also gets a significant mechanical revision under the hood. The new Maybach S-Class is expected to reach India around early 2027, following the updated S-Class. Local assembly of the S 580 is likely to continue.

2026 Maybach-S Class: Powertrain Talking about the powertrain first, the updated Maybach S-Class will continue with the S 580 as its core model, now powered by the updated M177 Evo V8 which puts out 537hp and 750Nm. In some markets, a plug-in hybrid S 580e is also offered, pairing a 3.0-litre inline-six engine with a 163hp electric motor and a 22kWh battery, delivering a combined 585hp and 750Nm and up to 98km of electric-only range.The range-topping S 680 will vary by market. The US and UAE are expected to retain the 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 with 630hp and 900Nm, while markets such as India are likely to get a higher-output version of the 4.0-litre V8 with 612hp and 850Nm. A right-hand-drive V12, if offered globally, could be brought to India as a CBU.2026 Maybach-S Class: Design The updated Maybach S-Class adopts the design changes from the standard S-Class, with Maybach-specific elements. It gets a larger grille with LED illumination, vertical slats and an illuminated ‘Maybach’ script, along with a lit Mercedes star on the bonnet. The headlamps feature updated Digital Light technology with a three-pointed star signature and rose gold accents. The lower bumper includes a Maybach-pattern mesh. The model remains around 180mm longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class and now offers new 20- and 21-inch forged alloy wheels with self-levelling centre caps. Other updates include an illuminated Maybach logo on the D-pillar and revised tail-lamps with a star-themed lighting pattern.

Mercedes has expanded personalisation options through its Manufaktur programme, adding new exterior colours, dual-tone finishes and the Night Series package with darker styling elements and interior themes. Optional features include automatic comfort doors operated via sensors or the infotainment system. Overall, the update adds design elements and customisation options without changing the core design.

2026 Maybach-S Class: Interior The updated Maybach S-Class adds new interior materials, features and digital systems while retaining the overall cabin layout. Buyers now get extended leather coverage, new upholstery shades and, for the first time, a leather-free interior option using textile and man-made materials.

It adopts the ‘Superscreen’ dashboard from the S-Class facelift, with Maybach-specific graphics in a rose gold theme. The system runs on the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System with over-the-air updates, while an AI-based MBUX assistant enables advanced voice interaction. The car also uses an updated electronic architecture to manage infotainment, safety and driving functions, and continues to offer a Maybach drive mode with a comfort-focused suspension setup.

Other changes include a redesigned centre console with open-pore wood finishes and an integrated phone charger. At the rear, seats recline up to 43 degrees and offer heating, ventilation and massage functions, along with new handheld controls replacing the earlier tablet. Additional features include dedicated holders for champagne flutes. Overall, the update focuses on added features and materials, with an emphasis on rear-seat comfort and digital systems.
